Job Summary:
We are seeking a Mid-level Project Manager / Product Lead to join our team supporting the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Officer (CDAO) at the Department of Defense (DoD). This role is focused on leading and managing AI/ML-driven products within the Unstructured Data Search Enhanced by AI/ML initiative under the Search Products Portfolio. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the effective planning, development, and implementation of AI-enabled search and analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a Product Owner within an Agile Scaled Framework (SAFe), managing the product lifecycle from inception to deployment.
  • Engage key stakeholders, including users and non-customer stakeholders, to define and balance product requirements and priorities.
  • Translate business needs and technical requirements into actionable user stories, features, and tasks.
  • Prioritize and maintain backlogs for SCRUM teams, ensuring optimal velocity and resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and UI/UX designers to develop and integrate AI/ML models into functional products.
  • Coordinate development across multiple product teams, ensuring seamless integration and alignment of AI/ML capabilities.
  • Drive DevSecOps best practices, ensuring continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) of AI-powered search and analytics solutions.
  • Monitor product performance, gather feedback, and drive iterative improvements using Agile methodologies.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to product development and deployment within DoD environments.
  • Provide strategic recommendations on alternative technical and business approaches to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5-7 years of experience OR Master’s degree plus 3 years of experience in Project Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Clearance Requirements: Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility 
  • Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies and the Product Owner role within SAFe.
  • Strong ability to synthesize complex requirements and translate them into user stories and backlogs.
  • Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and modern cloud-based software development.
  • Working knowledge of containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and AI/ML deployment.
  • Proficiency in managing projects integrating big data, AI/ML, and distributed computing environments such as Apache Spark or Databricks.
  • Familiarity with modern software architectures (e.g., microservices) and front-end frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working within DoD or Federal AI/ML initiatives.
  • Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP), LLMs, and search indexing technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch, OpenSearch).
  • Understanding of DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes.
  • Project Management certifications such as PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM), or PMP.

Salary Range: $110,000 - $120,000 per year
