The Data Standardization Specialist provides expert-level technical support in the evaluation, coordination, and implementation of data elements, business rules, coding structures, and data standards across systems. This role ensures that data definitions are clear, consistent, technically sound, and accurately mapped to business processes. The specialist will play a critical role in shaping data strategies, policies, and procedures to support mission-critical decisions and compliance across the Department of Defense (DoD) and other enterprise-level environments.

Job Summary:
The Data Standardization Specialist provides expert-level technical support in the evaluation, coordination, and implementation of data elements, business rules, coding structures, and data standards across systems. This role ensures that data definitions are clear, consistent, technically sound, and accurately mapped to business processes. The specialist will play a critical role in shaping data strategies, policies, and procedures to support mission-critical decisions and compliance across the Department of Defense (DoD) and other enterprise-level environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate proposed data elements and codes along with their attributes for clarity, consistency, and technical accuracy.
- Ensure data definitions align with business processes and operational requirements.
- Collect and analyze business and data requirements to support the development of comprehensive data strategies.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and capabilities to ensure consistent and accurate data usage across the organization.
- Provide technical guidance on the adoption and coordination of new or modified policies, vocabularies, and data elements.
- Represent DoD interests in data standards bodies, especially the Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12.
- Contribute to data governance initiatives, including metadata management, master data management (MDM), and data quality assurance.
- Work with stakeholders across departments to facilitate enterprise-wide data standardization.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum ten (10) years of experience in a relevant field, with substantial experience in the evaluation and coordination of data standards, policies, and vocabularies used throughout the Department of Defense (DoD).
- Deep expertise in one or more of the following standards and technologies:
- ASC X12, Business Enterprise Architecture, data dictionaries, metadata registries
- Data warehousing, enterprise application integration, Master Data Management (MDM)
- Relational databases, SQL, PL/SQL
- XML, including XML Schema Definitions (XSD) and transformations
- Semantics, data retention policies
- Proven experience representing DoD interests in ASC X12 data standards development and governance processes.
- Must possess IT-II Non-Critical Sensitive security clearance or Tier 3 (T3) at the time of proposal submission.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional):
- Strong knowledge of DoD data governance frameworks and enterprise architecture.
- Experience with data strategy development in complex enterprise or federal environments.
- Familiarity with data interoperability standards and tools used in defense or federal systems.
